The large space and the never-ending need for help in the garden means we are the perfect venue for teams of volunteers to come and work together for a few hours or even a day.
We have had teams of volunteers from many different organisations including banks, retail and a local doctors surgery. They have helped us in the garden under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with tasks such as weeding, pruning, planting and painting outdoor furniture. Without their help, our garden would still look like a wilderness!
We can provide tools, refreshments and facilities for breaks whilst the teams have a great day working together as a team to make a difference in the community. If you work for an organisation and would like to discuss CSR opportunities, please do get in touch.
Here is a photo of Engie and Gem who very generously gave their time and resources to dig over the area to be made into our mini orchard.
The patio area has proved to be incredibly versatile with a seating area for the cafe and for group activities.
The plant pots and raised flower beds mean that people of all abilities can get involved in gardening.
We are growing some beautiful flowers along with fruit and vegetables including courgettes, tomatoes, gooseberries and strawberries. All of which are used in our community cafe.
When host community events the patio becomes our stage for live music.
We are reliant on a small team of volunteers who help maintain the garden. We are indebted to them for the time they give doing litter picking, weeding, pruning, strimming and potting.
We always need more help so please do contact us if you feel you can help. Volunteers can commit to a regular time or just turn up as and when they feel able. We can provide tools and of course make sure volunteers are rewarded with a cuppa.
